The FBI covered up evidence of Russian influence on the US Presidential election in favor of Donald Trump, the British newspaper The Guardian revealed this weekend.

Harry Reid, outgoing Senate minority leader said that FBI director James Comey had information on Russia’s influence and sat on it.

“The FBI had this material for a long time but Comey, who is of course a Republican, refused to divulge specific information about Russia and the presidential election,” Reid told MSNBC on Saturday.

Earlier, the CIA confirmed that Russia hacked DNC computers to obtain information damaging to Hillary Clinton and gave it to WikiLeaks for release.  All 17 US intelligence agencies concur on these findings.  President Obama has ordered that a report of the findings be compiled for public release.

FBI Director Comey Must Go

Comey hid evidence for political motives.  He cannot remain in office.

Is Comey a Traitor?

Comey hid evidence of a foreign operation to sabotage American Democracy.  He betrayed America.  No wonder some are saying that Comey is a traitor.

Comey’s Bias Is Obvious

Comey’s bias is clear: Ten days before the election, Comey sent a letter to Capitol Hill leaders indicating the FBI had located additional emails related to its investigation of Clinton’s private email server. Two days before the election, he sent another letter saying the review was complete and that the bureau confirmed its original conclusion finding no criminal wrongdoing. 

Now we see that Comey was sitting on evidence of Russian involvement all the time.

Maybe he really is a traitor.  He acts the same as a Russian agent.

The Electoral College Must Stop the Madness

We cannot have an illegitimate President.  We know now that the Russians influenced the election just to get Trump elected.  We cannot afford a President whose entire purpose is to discredit and destroy American Democracy on behalf of a foreign enemy.

The deadline for the Electoral College is approaching.

The Director of National Intelligence must inform the Electoral College of all relevant intelligence facts about Russian influence in the election.  They must see the proof that Trump is the Illegitimate Candidate, the willing tool of our enemy, Russia. 

The only possible salvation for America is for the College to choose someone other than Mad Man Trump as the next president.

It has been said before, but it is now more urgent than ever:  This is the political equivalent of 9/11.

According to a Bloomberg report, Donald Trump’s transition team has asked the Department of Energy for a list of employees and contractors associated with initiatives inimical to the interests of the fossil fuel industry.  The lists include who attendees at United Nations climate meetings and developers of the Obama administration’s social cost of carbon metrics. 

They want lists of department scientists and their publications -- so that they can root out the serious researchers of climate change and alternative technologies.  

Another request was a list of clean energy and other innovative energy technology programs.

This is a sign that Trump intends to punish those who pursued scientific and administrative efforts to protect the environment, most especially those tainted with honest efforts to understand and counter global warming.  Trump denies climate change and is a crony of the billionaires of the fossil fuel industry.

As Bloomberg reported:  Senator Ed Markey, a Democrat from Massachusetts, sent a letter to Trump warning that punishment of agency workers “would be tantamount to an illegal modern-day political witch hunt, and would have a profoundly chilling impact on our dedicated federal workforce.”

Who knows how far Trump’s vindictive purges will go?  Adolf Hitler executed thousands of cronies and supporters in 1934 to consolidate his own power over Germany.  Stalin executed hundreds of thousands in the Great Purge, to consolidate his power.  Millions were persecuted in Mao’s Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution.

Trump threatened the labor union leader who criticized his explanation of the Carrier deal, where the state of Indiana gave Carrier $7 million not to ship a few hundred jobs to Mexico right away.

Will no one be able to speak his mind without attack from the government?

Trump exaggerated the number of jobs saved at Carrier, and ignored the people who will still lose their jobs in Indianapolis.  Nothing but self-promotion from the liar Trump.

Trump’s exaggeration was extremely cruel to the people who are losing their jobs at Carrier.  According to Trump they don’t even exist!

Trump has abandoned the working people who voted for him and stabbed them in the back.  He ruins their lives and then attacks them when they complain.

Mad Man Trump Intentionally Provokes China, China Pushes Back Hard

As we now know, when Donald Trump conducted a phone call with the Premier of Taiwan, in contravention of the US-China “one state” policy, he did it intentionally.  He was demonstrating to China that he is willing to take a hard line over trade and the South China Sea.

Never mind that he changed the policy of the current administration -- Trump is serious in taking a more contentious position with China.

Trump says that China “takes advantage of us” when it engages in free trade and sells us things at prices so low that we cannot refuse.  He is apparently ready to confront China economically and militarily, no matter the consequences.  This is a dangerous game.

Now China has hit back – hard.

Today, the Chinese renminbi fell by about 10 percent against the dollar, one of the biggest single-day moves since Beijing allowed its money to partially float.  This is a clear, intentional signal on the part of a China that carefully controls the daily changes in its currency exchange rate.

A one-day 10% reduction in the renminbi versus the dollar is huge.

Such a currency move by a major international trading partner and competitor has serious economic consequences.  The US already has enough trouble competing in international trade, and now Trump’s foolishness has resulted in China reducing its prices even more!

Trump’s recklessness will have adverse consequences for all of America.  We have trading partners, you dunce.  You made our competitive position in world markets even worse!

China is not going to back down.  They have all the trump cards.  They can undercut America and will flood our markets until Trump and Congress raise tariff barriers against them.

What will the American people say a year from now as American exports fall even more, and China grabs an even greater piece of the international trading pie?  What will they say as prices rise and their meager wages are stretched even tighter? 

What will Americans say as Mad Man Trump plunges the US into another recession? 

Trying to change the US-China-Taiwan relationship before he is President is radically disruptive to US policy and harmful to American workers.  He will be sadly surprised by both domestic and international repercussions.

If he escalates this offensive into a military confrontation, it could be catastrophic.

Trump Denies Global Warming, Spews His Evil over the World

On November 6, 2012, Donald Trump posted this preposterous tweet: "The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive."  

These are the ravings of an unscientific propagandist for the fossil fuel industry.  China is a terrible environmental disaster, and the last nation on earth to want global warming to worsen.

Global warming is not a "concept", it is a fact.  What is it about  the measurement of greenhouse gases, including CO2, that the simpleton Trump does not understand?  Oh, of course -- he cares nothing for the future of humanity.  All he cares about is himself.  

And what is it about the physics of the greenhouse effect that Trump fails to understand?

Earth's climate has fluctuated many times over the course of millions of years, and each warming/cooling episode was due to specific geophysical, astrophysical, or biological processes.  These included processes that altered the composition of the atmosphere and warmed or cooled the earth.  Cause and effect.

It is the same today, except that this time it is humanity's activities that have altered the atmosphere, the seas, and the land surface of the earth to cause an episode of global warming.

The physical processes and their consequences for humanity are all understandable to any literate person.  The science is open to all, and anyone with data and analysis to contradict global warming is free to publish papers to that effect and try to convince others.

And so we see opportunists and the enemies of humanity resort to propaganda in a desperate attempt to convince the ignorant, the lazy, the jealous, the disaffected, and the desperate that there is no serious, anthropogenic climate change.

Donald Trump is the most dangerous of those opportunists and enemies of humanity.

Ignorant Donald Trump to Scrap NASA’s “Politicized” Climate Change Research

Continued surveillance of the earth is the only way mankind can track climate change and its impact on the living systems that sustain our lives.  Now the astoundingly ignorant demagogue and President-elect, Donald Trump, wants to end NASA’s vital program of climate change research.

The threat to humanity

Robert Walker, a lobbyist appointed by Trump to lead the NASA transition for the new administration, has said there was no need for NASA to do missions that he previously called “politically correct environmental monitoring”.  Walker, who was the chair of aerospace research under George Bush, said the “interference” of politicians in climate change research was preventing scientists from discovering the “reality” about climate change.

Now the political hacks define “reality”

Walker is blatantly illogical and prejudicial.  This lobbying hack has decided a priori that he already knows the “reality” about climate change, meaning that he is trying to peddle preconceived notions.  How misleading and pernicious of him to accuse scientists of hiding “reality” when their data and methods are public knowledge.  Scientific data are public knowledge that anyone can review and interpret.  If someone wants to disagree about global warming, all he needs to do is publish a paper with the relevant data, analysis, and conclusions.  The reality is there for all to see.

Walker is an ignorant liar with no credibility

How can “monitoring” be “politically correct”?  Monitoring means observing and measuring.  Observing a system is the first step in understanding that system and what makes it tick.  It is a part of the scientific method, which Walker obviously does not understand.  He is shockingly ignorant and malicious.  Is this responsible governing?  Walker is a self-contradictory propagandist like his boss Trump.  This crawling creep places ideology over truth, and will drive America to climate hell.

Trump has fevered dreams of grandiosity

Trump wants manned exploration of space at the expense of understanding planet earth.  Such are the fevered dreams of an infantile, narcissistic demagogue.  Trump would substitute grandiose dreams of space exploration for the practical understanding of planet earth -- understanding that “enables us to live better lives and actually save lives.” "While deep space exploration enables us to have big dreams, understanding planet earth enables us to live better lives and actually save lives," Malte Meinshausen, director of the Climate & Energy College at Melbourne University, told the Sydney Morning Herald.

Gavin Schmidt, a climate scientist and the head of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, believes that Trump won't be able to fulfill his promise to make such drastic cuts. The federal bureaucracy's size and complexity makes it impossible to change course so swiftly and radically, Schmidt argues. 

Trump sacrifices the safety and security of America

The same NASA systems that enable climate research also enable weather forecasting and detection of environmental hazards.  Trump cannot eliminate NASA climate research without also eliminating weather observation and environmental hazard detection.

Ongoing operations of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard depend on awareness of the immediate environment, and planning future forces and operations of the uniformed services requires an understanding of probable future climates and their impact on human activities.  The US military already incorporates anthropogenic climate change into its planning for the future.

His attack on NASA earth science is just another way Trump has shown that he does not care about the loyal Americans who serve in the military.  Narcissistic egotists are like that.  After all, Trump refuses to refer to American POWs as “heroes”.  He only likes winners.

Trump sacrifices the climate refugees of the future

Humanitarian relief and peace enforcement are two of the main missions of the US military, which is one of the first organizations called on to respond to humanitarian disasters around the world.  As cities sink beneath the waves, as deserts replace croplands, as millions of refugees surge across national borders – how prepared will we be?  And of course, the US is not immune to the human impact of continued anthropogenic climate change.

Trump is sacrificing the lives of the afflicted people who will need our help in the future, both here at home and around the world.

Bush Crashed America, Obama Brought It Back: How Could the Dems Lose?

In the wake of Trump’s electoral victory, commentators of all political persuasions are castigating the Democratic Party for ignoring the concerns of rural voters, the flyover states, and working-class Americans in general. 

The irony is that it was the Democratic administration of Barak Obama that relieved the gravest concerns of these constituencies, who lost jobs and homes in the wake of the 2007-2008 Bush Financial Crisis, and regained them under the Obama Recovery. 

If concerns remained, it was only because the Democratic Party and the campaign of Hillary Clinton failed to deliver this winning economic message.  Left to the mercies of a lying demagogue, it is no wonder that ordinary Americans believe they are worse off because of “liberal” Democratic policies.

The George W. Bush Crash was the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s.  Because of deregulation and lax oversight by the Republican administration, investment houses lied about the riskiness of their securities, covertly traded unrated securities in the shadow banking system, and accumulated debt without regard to risk.  Risky mortgages were pushed on ordinary consumers, who piled on more debt, and risky securities were represented as gilt-edge to unknowing consumers and managers of public finances.  Then the crisis hit:

·        At the height of the crisis, in September 2008, there was a bank run on money market funds that threatened to collapse the entire US financial system.

·        Treasury Secretary Hank Paulsen asked Congress for a $700 billion bailout for the Wall Street banks.

·        By the time the markets had stabilized, US unemployment doubled to 10.1%, and median household wealth fell by 35%. 

·        Housing prices dropped 20% from their 2006 peak.

·        People lost their homes when they could no longer pay their mortgages.

If Americans have economic concerns today, there is the cause.  If Americans’ financial well-being has stagnated, it is because they have been catching up from the Bush Crash. 

The story is a simple one:  Republicans deregulated the financial system, Wall Street bankers made money, and ordinary Americans lost their jobs and their homes.  To add insult to injury, Wall Street was bailed out while the ordinary taxpayer paid the bill.

The report of the U.S. Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission says that “the crisis was avoidable” and that it was caused by these failures of Bush-era oversight:

·         Widespread failures in financial regulation

·         Dramatic breakdowns in corporate governance

·         Too many financial firms acting recklessly

·         Excessive borrowing and risk by households and Wall Street

·         Key policy makers ill prepared for the crisis

·         Systemic breaches in accountability and ethics at all levels

It has taken until now – eight years – for the economy to recover from the Bush Crash of 2008.  And how did we come back?  It was the Democratic administration of President Barak Obama that brought us back from the brink, and held things together while the banks were nursed back to health and employment recovered.  It was the greatest economic comeback since the end of the Great Depression.

Did we hear about this from Hillary?  Did she position the Democrats as the champions of ordinary Americans?  Did she take a clue from Bernie’s broader appeal?

Whatever the outcome in the Electoral College this time, remember that a majority of voters chose a more enlightened and democratic way.  At the next election, a progressive Democratic message will give voters a clear choice.  

But you need to make sure that Americans hear the message, care about it, and vote for it.

Interior Department Rule on Natural Gas Emissions

The Interior Department today finalized a regulation to capture emissions from the flaring and venting of natural gas in drilling operations on public lands.  Studies have shown that methane released from these operations is a significant component of overall global emissions of methane, including intentional burning and venting by operators, accidents, and leaks not detected by operators.  

Methane is a major contributor to global warming through the greenhouse effect.

The rule would require close monitoring of Melania Trump's frequent emissions.

The Trump administration is anticipated to review and nullify the rule.  "The fate of the world's children is no concern of ours," said an ill-informed member of the transition team.  "If you hippies are so concerned, go kill some cows."

Unknown at this time is any relationship to the Trump administration's plan to replace fission and fusion weapons with conventional weapons based on coal, oil, and natural gas.

Trump Names Nuclear Energy Denier to Dismantle Strategic Deterrent

The security of the United States was dealt another blow today when President-elect Donald Trump named infamous nuclear-energy denier Myron Ebell to plan the Trump administration’s dismantlement of the strategic nuclear deterrent.

Ebell is not a scientist.  Despite his ignorance and shameless illogic, he has been a thorn in the side of physicists.  Ebell spreads propaganda questioning the overwhelming scientific consensus that nuclear fission and nuclear fusion are the basis for the technology of the A-bomb and the H-bomb.

“These are merely so-called nuclear weapons”, Ebell said in response to questions from the press.  “The scientific establishment has perpetrated a hoax on the American people that invisible things called nuclei are responsible for the big bangs made by our missiles and thingies.”

“We all know that coal, oil, and natural gas do a much better job of blowing things up.  We will build very big gas bombs and Melania will release them after a White House dinner.”   Ebell denied any ties to the coal, oil, and natural gas industries.

Ebell also scoffed at reporters’ references to the work of Einstein and Fermi.  “You’re talking about wetback foreigners”, he sneered.  “Einstein and Fermi will be among the first three million rounded up by the Deportation Police”.

“Besides, isn’t Einstein the dog in Back to the Future?”  Ebell seemed disoriented as he sneered “What kind of animal is a Furby, anyway?"  The interview ended when Ebell humiliated himself by peeing his pants and throwing a tantrum, screaming “You’re trying to confuse me with facts!”

Melania Trump Worked without the Necessary Visa, AP Says

The AP just announced that when Melania Trump first entered the United States, whe worked 10 modeling jobs in the seven weeks before she was legally entitled to work here.

The AP did the research and found records proving that she entered the US and did modeling work without proper papers.  She earned income during that time.  This is based on internal records from the modeling firm that employed Melania.

Several months ago, Donald Trump announced that Melania would hold a press conference where she would produce her visa.  She never did, and has said nothing on the subject since.

Trump lied about Melania's work status, and he lied again when he said that she would produce proof of her legal work status.

Melania was an illegal alien stealing jobs from Americans.  She DID NOT have a legal work visa.

This is immigration fraud, and she covered it up.  It could still get her in trouble.

President Trump would have her deported.

If Donald is so concerned about immigrants stealing jobs, he should have Melania volunteer to be deported back to Russia.  As if the self-centered little boy was truly concerned for America.

Donald Trump once again shows what a hypocrite he is.

They are all rapists, says the demagogue and hypocrite.  Coming from an accused rapist it could be funny, but for America it's just pathetic.

The Useful Idiot, Donald

Those who spent at least a part of their lives in waging the Cold War will remember the phrase “useful idiot” applied to American and European figures who supported ideological positions beneficial to the Former Soviet Union and critical of their own countries.  The phrase was used sarcastically to imply that the “useful idiot” failed to comprehend the value of his speech as propaganda, or to see that he was being manipulated to aid a foreign enemy.

Apparently Madeleine Albright was the first to call Donald Trump a useful idiot on account of his support for Vladimir Putin, and Russian support of Trump in the Presidential election.  It is true, of course, but Trump is much worse than a useful idiot.

Trump is no intellectual arguing social, economic, or political theories.  He is a practical businessman who understands what Russia is doing, even as he understands the divisive effects of his own Fascistic hate speech on America.

Ambition overrules patriotism in Trump’s world.  Donald is more important than the future of America, and he does not care that he has damaged America’s democratic roots, maybe permanently.

But maybe it is worse than that.  Maybe Trump is actively collaborating with Putin.

Leaked intelligence reports show that Trump is truly the willing tool of Russia.  They get him elected, and he agrees to cooperate with them.  

Once he gets into office, he has plenty of willing and fearful allies here. He will ally with the arch-conservatives in repealing all of the modern social legislation that the arch-conservatives demonize.  Repression of gays, women, blacks, and many others will return to the US with a vengeance.  In return the arch-conservatives will ally with other willing elements to expand Trump’s powers and pursue his programs.

Trump will cooperate with his Russian handlers in breaking the back of democracies in Western Europe and around the world.  He has said this already.  The breakup of NATO will be only the beginning, as Putin receives free rein to expand his power around the world.  America’s influence will collapse around the world, as our society and economy collapse at home.

It will be another Dark Age, thanks to Donald the narcissistic, lecherous hatemonger.

Then, what will we think of the Useful Idiot?
